Stabilising finance activities after shared-service transition

Moving transactional finance into a shared service centre is only half the job. Stabilisation is the other half.

A bank was transitioning transactional activities from Finance into a newly appointed shared service centre specialising in operational solutions. The first wave of transitions needed central PMO support; the stabilisation phase needed the transitioned teams and activities properly embedded in Operations.

GRT consultants supported the central PMO through the first wave, then provided programme leadership in stabilisation refining parts of the Operations organisation model, designing the management information required to run the new structure, and monitoring risks and issues identified before transition. In particular, our consultants mapped processes and identified key issues within P&L production, Financial Control and Operations.

The bank had transitioned activities with a stabilisation path: organisation model, MI and issue tracking owned inside Operations rather than left as open programme debt.
